Eat to Sleep!

Trouble sleeping?  Tired but can't get enough Zzz's in?
I always tell my clients one of the missing links on the discussion of health today for longevity and anti-aging is the need necessity for absolute  SLEEP.

The body cannot function properly without recharging which happens during a good nights sleep.

When someone looks in the mirror and they see dark circles puffy eyes don't looking skin tiredness in the eyes yellowing in the ice a sluggish digestive system.  All of those symptoms are a result of lack of sleep.

The body has an natural detoxifying process that happens when we sleep.  It is our job to guarantee the body that opportunity to detox.  When we fail the body we fail ourselves.  our health suffers, our hormones get confused and  our chances of living a anti aging lifestyle are deceased.

Eat to sleep means just that.  When we eat with a purpose it gives food power.  Food is a drug. It was put on this earth to feed us.  It is when we take it out of that content text that it becomes abused miss used and works negatively against us.

When you eat to sleep you want to make sure you are giving your body
-enough water
-potassium
-minerals
-protein plant based sources such as brown rice, hemp and sprouted legumes.

The Key to have a balanced hormonal release throughout the day.
Green vegetables, cruciferous vegetables. Plant based protein, chia seeds and flax. water

When you eat these foods and drink enough water throughout the day preferably before 3 PM you will be ready for bed- tired, exhausted and shutting down by 8 PM.

You will wake up with no dark circles or puffy eyes.

Full of energy and ready to start a new day!

Skin at its Best: Series 2

Walking is an excellent and healthy way to get fit and/or lose weight.  Walking is the easiest way to lose weight as you change your eating lifestyle along with eating habits. It can be done anywhere!

Combine your walking habit with strength training workout that I gave you and you will be able to build muscle content, which burns calories at a higher rate than fat, even more ways to use energy without killing yourself or making yourself feel crazy about staying fit.

How many steps do I need to take to lose weight?
Each mile that a person walks burns roughly 100 calories. If a person was to commit to walking and uses up 300 calories each day equals 2,100 calories a week.

After just 1 month, that’s roughly 9,000 cal burned, which equates to approximately 2.6 pounds lost without killing yourself or your knees or any other part of your body.  Accumulating those three extra miles a day could be as simple as making small changes in the way you look at being active.

How many miles a day do YOU need to walk to lose weight?
Remember, it’s all a simple math equation.

Lets talk numbers:
1 Mile = 1500 steps for average person.(  I am 5'0 so its 2,500 steps for me to reach a mile.)
 1 Mile walked = 100 calories burned
 3 Miles walked = 300 calories burned
 300 calories x 7= 2,100 a week burned

If you take in 1,200 a day x 7=8,400 calories
If you normally take in 1,500 calories it leaves you with 2,100 deficit plus you are burning an extra 2,100 a week.
That equals 4,200 calories a week of burning up,extra energy(fat).
1 Pound = 3500 calories

There is the math.  Just by walking you will lose over 1 pound of fat stored energy!!!!!  If you want to lose it faster you just walk more steps. Not kill yourself going fast. It's not about speed it's about distance.  That is what our bodies were made for. Walking distance at normal pace without injury and stress.  Just go out and walk one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking out the door. Just like the song says!!

Find out how to achieve Skin at it's best.

Skin at its best...

Understanding skin all begins with understanding cause and effect.  If you want young, fresh-looking and fresh-feeling skin then you need to understand what it takes to make physical changes in the skin.  How do you accomplish that?

After years of research and plenty of trial and error to know the answer to this simple yet very extremely complex question.
I have interviewed Doctors, Nutritionists, and Aestheticians experts who specialize in skin, plastic surgery and nutrition.  I have listened to opinions and read their books. I always take away a new perspective and sometimes I have been enlightened with new information or many times, I find my own conceptions and convictions about skin and health have been validated.

I am asked constantly to write another book that updates all I have learned about "pulling it together" to achieve your vision and desires for your best self both inside and out, up and down and everywhere In between.

So, follow me for five days and let me guide you through a step-by-step process to changing your skin, health, mind and spirit. It all comes together beautifully once you educate yourself on how to pull all of the components together.  You will start to live and witness how beautiful you and your life can become.

It's not easy but it's not as hard as some want you to believe.  What it takes is a desire and will.  That's it.

All the work isn't done in just 5 days. Taking it in small increments will allow me to give you just enough information and homework to keep you on track.  After the first 5 days, then the next 5 days and so on and so on...

Here we go.   Are you ready??  I will also be answering your questions as they arise.  This is your opportunity to get your skin and nutrition-trainer session with me at "no charge".  Just promise yourself that you are going to love your body and love the process of rediscovering it.

Stay tuned.  My next blog will give you information and step 1,2 and 3 to "Skin at It's Best".

Nature's Secret to Health: Hemp Seeds

Hemp Seeds are one of nature's secrets to health that is still in the shadows of main stream health.

To make it short and sweet hemp seeds are a protein based plant food that offers the body complete amino acids that are easily digestible and usable.  Proteins are the building blocks of cells.  You must have the right proteins available to the body in order for the body to metabolize and create new healthy cells.  Skin, hair, nails, organs.  You'd name it and its made with protein.

Here is an excerpt from an article from Hemp Line Journal.

"The best way to insure the body has enough amino acid material to make the globulins is to eat foods high in globulin proteins. Since hemp seed protein is 65% globulin edistin, and also includes quantities of albumin, its protein is readily available in a form quite similar to that found in blood plasma. Eating hemp seeds gives the body all the essential amino acids required to maintain health, and provides the necessary kinds and amounts of amino acids the body needs to make human serum albumin and serum globulins like the immune enhancing gamma globulins. Eating hemp seeds could aid, if not heal, people suffering from immune deficiency diseases. This conclusion is supported by the fact that hemp seed was used to treat nutritional deficiencies brought on by tuberculosis, a severe nutrition blocking disease that causes the body to waste away. [Czechoslovakia Tubercular Nutritional Study, 1955]"

I personally love hemp by the spoonful.  But they are super in raw cookies.  They give a buttery cream taste to anything.  I throw them in my husbands salads everyday.  Effortless Healthy Eating.

Living a Life with Substance

Instead of wondering what YOU are going to with your life.....

Ask yourself   "What am I going to do with my life that will positively affect another person's life in a positive way?"  Having a life of substance fills you up inside and allows you to be a more open and giving person.

So...Today try thinking about a project that allows you to offer your talents to a charity....or give an hour of your time to a new mom or dad that just needs some downtime to regroup.
Whatever it is, do yourself for someone else.  By not giving a material item but offering something that can't be bought shows your love and compassion for another person.

Be an example to those you know.

Do something that has meaning and substance... and a whole new world will awaken within you and you will find yourself!

5 Day Plan for You

Here's my 5 day challenge for you.  You can do 5 days.  Once you've completed the 5 first 5 days go for another 5 days.
...and another 5...and another...and another 5...and another 5...

Here is how you do the 5 day plan:
and another 5...and another 5...and another...

Breakfast:

Upon waking up drink 8 oz. of regular water with 4 Geri G. Green Meal Caps
-Wait 15-30 min.
- Make a Geri G. Essential Meal with 8 oz. of non-dairy milk- almond milk (my favorite), rice milk, coconut milk or water.

Between lunch and dinner have 1 to 2 snacks.
-My favorite cucumbers but you can have any Veggies that you like.  If you feel you need some more protein by all means have any wild caught fish especially tuna or sardines are excellent choices.

Snacks choices:

-Any vegetables
-1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds,
-Kind Bar Nuts and Seeds Low Sugar
-Coconut water
-1 tablespoon of Chia seeds with water or almond milk.
-1 oz of tuna

For us vegans always have extra Chia seeds Sprinkled on top of your salad or in your sensual meal or on top of any additional food you would like.

*Before having dinner check to see how much water you have had.  By now you should have had at least 50 oz. of water if not go ahead and drink more water before having your dinner.

Remember no liquids with your food!!!  Drinking while eating disrupts the normal digestive process.

Dinner:
I love a big juicy kale salad which can include:
 -Red peppers
-Yellow peppers
-Spinach
-Cauliflower
-Broccoli
-Parsley
-Cilantro
-Cucumbers
-A splash of pumpkin seeds
-A splash of sesame seeds

Tips:
-Stop eating by 8 PM
-After dinner wait 1 hour before taking in any liquids.
-Drink or sip water throughout the evening to avoid snacking.
-Get plenty of sleep no less than seven hours a night (without the proper amount of sleep you will never lose true fat and gain lean muscle).

Exercise tips:
Exercise in the morning before eating breakfast.  Your muscles have less stored sugar and the body will go straight for the fat reserves to keep up the energy demand.
10-20 min of individual interval training
10 min of toning exercises everyday

Oscars are here!

Another Sunday another awards night!

And this is when I run from face to face, spreading beauty in my tracks!

Everything about make-up is important if you don't want to be the main topic on "Fashion Police" come Monday...and well-applied Blush is CRUCIAL.

Placement has got to be precise when it comes to the elusive BLUSH!  Ah!
The blush blunders I see on the red carpet are sad.....but true.

*I personally like to put blush on the skin first before I start the eyes.  I do that because it gives the face instant structure and dictates how to do the rest of the makeup.

    For day Red Carpet:
I like to do less contour but more highlighting with popping blushing cheeks, and eyes that don't compete with the rest of the face.
Yes, I use Geri G. Blush on my cheeks AND eyes!
*A beautiful color like Vanilla Creme over the entire lid with brown eyeliner right next to the lashes.
*Then my Plush Mascara 2-3 layers.
 So stunning....so clean and chic.

For night Red Carpet
*First- I like to do contour and highlighting, then I blend it with the foundation.
    The technique allows for
more blend-ability and less chance of streaking or nasty zebra stripes on the face!
*Blush is an accent to the contour and highlight.  The placement needs to be precise to the face shape.  Otherwise, you will look like its all cheek and much too overpowering.
*The blush is placed gently above and below contoured areas.  Softly using the flat side of the canvas brush to blend the blush into the small area of placement that is correct for your face shape.

VOILA...Red Carpet Ready!
Come in and see me for a demo of how to look Naturally Red Carpet Stunning!
