Fake a Good Nights Sleep

The Holiday Season can be tiring!

Get the Fake a Good Nights Sleep

1.  Wash your face and splash cold water on it five times.

2.  Then to get smooth like a baby skin I use Transceutical™ Canvas which is my primer as well.

3.  Followed by my sheer Innocent Foundation

4.  To sweep away any the tell-tale signs of the foundation I use the Canvas Brush leaving the skin picture perfect without looking like you have anything on your skin! (Trust me it is worth it!!)
5. If you want to look youthful instantly do a little bronze on the cheeks!

6. I sometimes just apply my  Cheek and Eye Blending Duo to bronze/highlight  my cheeks and eyes.  I love how it makes me look put together without hav- ing to do a lot.  Giving the skin a splash of "glow" that doesn't look overdone unlike some bronzers that can be heavy.

7.  Go crazy over MASCARA!! That's all you have to do to look young and stunning at any age.  The biggest mistake women make when doing their holiday makeup is doing TOO much!  Now, you don't have time to stress your self over trying to look perfect.  Supermodels don't so why do you!?

Holiday food tip!!! Don't eat sugar in any shape or form!!   It's the one thing that will throw off your metabolism and ability to burn fat.

A Facial Begins On The Inside

My freeing moment!!  I recently was shopping at my local farmers market on Sunset Blvd in the hollywood hills (where I live in LA).  Taking a stroll to pick up my weekly veggies and suddenly I had an "ah-ha" moment!  Which changed my life forever...
As I was standing by the asparagus- section, shocker!  (my favorite, if you haven't read any of my previous posts)  and at the corner of my eye...I catch...Victoria Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio!  umm...Wow! She was in baggy sweats, not a stitch of makeup makeup, messy hair up with a clip and confidence that oozed out of her!!!
It was then that I realized that it all comes from within.
See its not the stuff you buy that makes you beautiful and in-style but it is how you feel about yourself in it- comfortable and suits you.  And when it comes down to it I think that's really what all of us are shopping for.
Stay true to what you want and deserve.  Don't get sucked into anyone sales pitch that they have the "magic beans" to make your dreams come true.
The truth is this.... Stick with what works.

First and foremost, beauty comes from within so start loving yourself.  Take care of yourself and do not abuse
yourself through food and self doubt talk.

Geri G. goes to the Farmers Market

One of my favorite things to do is go the a farmers market.  I have a list of my “go to” foods list that I stock up on weekly.

Feeding you body only Organic foods helps to support the prevention of toxicity within our cells. Toxins get stored in our cells and make our immune system weak.

Here is my list of foods that you should always pick up at the market:

1. Asparagus- eating asparagus everyday is a great kidney cleaner-upper as well as supporting normal potassium levels in the body.  Asparagus is rich in amino acid named asparagine, which is found to cleanse the body of all the toxins

  •     Top of the of the list of alkaline foods.
  •      Helps lower cholesterol.
  •      Rich in phto-chemicals that are known to fight the problems of inflammation.

2. Cucumber- Wow! I can’t say enough about cucumbers. I just love them and eat them like candy!! They are fibrous and full of potassium.  Eat them when ever you want!  They are great to put in a blender for quick refreshing cucumber juice.  FYI, only eat the skin of a cucumber if it is organic. Otherwise you must peel it before eating!!!  The skin on the cucumber has a decent amount of vitamin C!

  •      Great source of B vitamins.  Good for a pick me-up!!!
  •      Hydration!! Cucumbers are 95% water, keeps you hydrated and helps eliminate      toxins.
  •      Helpful for morning hangovers.  Eat some cucumber before going to bed and in the    AM.  They have the right amount of sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish the essential nutrients, shrinking the intensity of the hangover.

3. Kale- The mother ship of greens. Its just full of great nutrients that provide the body with a days worth of energy.

  •       Anti-Inflammatory properties, has high amounts of vitamin K which aids to fight against excessive inflammatory-related problems.
  •       Helps boost the immune system.
  •       The high sulfur content in kale has been shown that it is essential for detoxification.
  •       Kale provides glucosinolates, which have been shown to prevent colon, breast, bladder, prostate, ovarian and gastric cancer.

4. Celery- a natural source of sodium, which is essential to the body for balance. 5. Parsley-helps to cleanse the blood and is a great support to the body for daily
detoxifying.

  •       Celery is high source of vitamin C and fiber.  It's a very good source of folic acid, potassium, and vitamin B.
  •       Zero calories.
  •       Celery contains phthalides and polyacetylenes.  Which are anti cancer components detoxify carcinogens.
  •       Celery contains courmarins that enhance the activity of certain white blood cells.

  3. Then open your shaker top on the powder container and blend both colors together to get a perfect peachy glow to your cheeks.  I promise it works for everyone.

Entertaining Raw Style

*Whenever I serve food at special events or just for friends, I always have a couple healthy options for my guests to enjoy and feel like they are experiencing food like never before.
I’m always obsessed with finding new ways to make food more exciting to eat in a raw state.  Recently at a small get together I served some of my all time favorites.
Golden Beet Crackers

Which are:
  • Golden Beets sliced thin
  • Marinated over night in lemon juice
  •  Topped with beautiful Red Cabbage
  • Cilantro
  • and Garlic.
Now how easy is that!!  And if you can't find yellow beets than choose another root and prepare it the same way.

Your guests will be impressed and they will eat more than just one.  So have a lot on hands for these beautiful skinny appetizers

** I always put name cards next to my dishes describing it.  It cuts down on guests constantly asking me what they are eating before committing to it. (Plus I think it's a nice finishing touch when entertaining guests.  Make them feel like you went to some effort to make it special and out of the ordinary).

When entertaining and trying to keep it healthy think outside of the box.  Take a traditional appetizer and think of what natural ingredients you can substitute for cooked and or processed ingredients.  Here I replaced crackers or sometimes bread with a hardy root vegetable like beets.  Marinated root vegetables before eating always helps it to stay looking fresh up to the point it is enjoyed.

Famers Market- The Power of King Kale

Kale. Kale, Kale, I can't get enough of it!!  Kale to me is the ultimate in health.  It's bright green, it's big and its just full of health!

Eat it chomp on it, blend it, juice it, or if you have to bake it.  Then DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET IT INTO your system everyday!!  It will turn your body around into a green alkaline machine and it will make dark circles slowly fade into the night as well as making your complexion creamy smooth!

Kale is also great detox food! Filled with fiber and sulfur keeping the body & liver healthy!

Just Some of the Benefits of Kale:

  •  1 cup of kale has only 36 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 0 grams of fat.
  • High in Iron Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef. Iron is essential for the formation of hemoglobin and enzymes, transporting oxygen to various parts of the body, cell growth, proper liver function & more.
  • High in Vitamin K
  • High in antioxidants ( carotenoids and flavonoids) which help protect against various cancers.
  • High in Vitamin A- great for eye sight, skin, & helping to prevent lung and oral cavity cancers.
  • High in Vitamin C, helps protect your immune system, metabolism and hydration.

TWO Items to see in your fridge-repertoire at ALL TIMES.

AT ALL TIMES....At home and at WORK!

Artichokes and Cucumbers

Potassium-(mineral 3,500mg)

FYI tip from Geri

Eating artichokes and cucumbers everyday will make you happy and full! Artichokes are basically fiber.  And we need fiber everyday to make our belly happy and stay full.  Cucumbers are also full of fiber and are more liquid based.  They help quech our thirst as well as boosting our
 potassium levels instantly.

And great way to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours ;-)
Satisfy that sweet tooth with a yummy RAW Cookie

My recipes are RAW. . . NO COOKING!

Let  me begin by saying this.  I find recipes to be restrictive.  When I create a dish it's not from a strict guideline that I have to follow with temperatures and measurements.  I use to do that when I cooked food. Not anymore!

My recipes are RAW! NO COOKING!  If you cook food you are cooking the intense flavor out of them. that's why you have to add so much to them in ways of seasoning and fats to get  flavor back into the dish. ( I don't even call it food anymore once you've cooked it. It's just not the same.)

I want you all to be creative in your journey. Discover the health benefits of eating more foods from the ground and trees that are in their natural state.  In order to absorb all the nutrients in food you must be eating them as raw as possible.

Knowing the why and what behind food choices is most important.   In our journey together you will discover that it's about "wanting" to make nutrient dense choices in the foods that "you" choose to eat.  Food is not to be abused by eating whatever is in front of you because it's there.  It's about caring so much about how you feel and look. It will lead you to food choices that you know will result in energy and anti-aging.

Listed below I have pointed out for you what nutrients are in the Kale Salad and Cucumber Dressing.
It's important that you see food as a resource of nutrients and not just as something you put n your mouth.  Everything you put in your mouth MUST have a source of nutrients otherwise you simply don't put into your body.
It's that thought process that I want you to work on . That is how you transition to a healthier you.
Food is a drug, good or bad.  Know the power of the foods you eat and you will become empowered to make better food choices.  That is my goal.  To teach you more about what is in raw food ingredients and why you need them for daily activity. That is how you will achieve Looking Young, and Living Lean,
